Draft due: Monday July 28 in class
Assignment Due: Friday August 1
Using any data you want, produce a graphic (1-3 plots on a single sheet of paper) that addresses a specific purpose and applies the principles we have covered in class.
Monday July 28 Bring 5 printed copies of your draft graphic to class for a group critique, and be prepared to describe it in 30 seconds.
Friday Aug 1 On Blackboard (or by email):
Poster session in class time:
Your final one sheet graphic should be polished and completely self contained. This means it could be posted in a hallway and someone could get everything they need off that one sheet to understand your graphic. This means you might make your plot in R, but lay it out with required captions and anntotation in Powerpoint or Illustrator.
You can use any data you want: data you have collected as part of your research, “classic” data sets from your field, any of the datasets mentioned in class, homeworks or assignments, any data you find on the web.
If you are taking Shawn’s class as well, you should attempt to make use of your new data manipulation skills to produce subsets or summaries of interest.
